And more
(Apologies for light posting, but the Blogger software has been balky lately and I've been having a lot of trouble getting posts to go through. Trying again:)
Amid all the discussion of the new Pope Benedict XVI, a few writers and bloggers are pointing to his influence on the last U.S. election. As head of the Vatican doctrine committee (formerly the Inquisition), he issued a statement telling American bishops that any Catholic politician that took a pro-choice stance should be excommunicated. Salon discusses the effect Cardinal Ratzinger had on the U.S. election. (You'll need to read an advertisement to see the whole story.) Text of the memo he sent to U.S. bishops is on the PriestsforLife Website. posted by liz at 1:42 PM
